The project goal is to provide a science-based knowledge and awareness of watershed areas providing quality, native water recharge to the groundwater basin and a more integrated approach to watershed planning.
|
Primary Goals:
- Identify undeveloped areas in the western section of the Upper Los Angeles River Area (ULARA) that currently provide quality native water recharge to the San Fernando Groundwater Basin (SFB), a local water resource for more than 600,000 people.
- Identify opportunities to increase infiltration of native water to the groundwater basin.
- Integrate science-based data into existing jurisdictional agencies and local watershed groups' plans.
|
 |
Desired outcome:
- Provide information to decrease dependency on Delta-derived water to supplement the groundwater basin.
- Protect existing infiltration areas to increase the recharge of high quality native water.
- Raise awareness of local and regional jurisdictions on the importance of high quality native water recharge to groundwater basins.
